Back pain on the rise in children: What’s the right way to wear a backpack

      Choose the Right Size:  Ensure the backpack is appropriately sized for the child's body. It should not be wider   

  Pack Light:  The backpack should not weigh more than 10-15% of the child's body weight. Encourage children    

   Distribute Weight Evenly:  Pack the heaviest items closest to the back to distribute the weight evenly.

 Use Both Straps:  Always use both shoulder straps to distribute weight evenly across the shoulders and back                              

 Adjust Straps Properly:  The shoulder straps should be adjusted so the backpack sits snugly against the child's back.                     

   Use Waist and Chest Straps:  If available, use waist and chest straps to help distribute the backpack's

 Lift Correctly:  Teach children to lift the backpack using their legs and not their back to avoid injury.                            

 Limit Backpack Use Time:  Encourage children to remove their backpacks when not necessary, especially
